ideas anyone?

i'm rebuilding the front end on my beater 79 ford 150 4x2 and i need to get the king pins out any ideas i've been pounding on the first one for quiet a bit now is it safe to heat up the i beam end and knock it out hot? or is this something i need to take the i beam out of the truck and press it out in the shop press? suggestions would be very welcome this is truly ticking me off!
