2004 nissan frontier 4cyl.

hey geys, i got this truck for my son when he graduated from school. for the first time he got a check engine light, code was p0402 autozone said it was egr valve. they are asking 150-200 dollars for the egr, does anyone now if it needs to be replaced or i can do something else to fix it. thank rcrosby

2001/2500 q/cab longbed auto, 4:10rear di-pricol gauges,boost,egt,trans. westech fuel gauge 0-30psi k&n air,2004 fifthwheel, 9,000# 28ft. aux. trans cooler, 1/2'' fuel lines. walbro 392 l/p near tank, dd trans pan. bypass oil filter. muffer fell had to go straight pipe,cepa ext. mirrors.
