6.5 Suburban PMD Questions

Has anyone had any experience with relocating the pump mounted driver for the injector pump?Im trying to squeeze a few more months of use out of the(Boat anchor)6.5.(Before replacing it with a CTD).The 6.5 has gotten to the point of only starting with the pedal pushed to the floor. And it still takes between 5 and 10 times turning over before starting. My question is this.If the problem is the pump mounted driver. After replacing it will the problem go away instantly?Or does it take the ECM some time to recognize the new PMD.It starts a little better and runs smoother with the new PMD, but it is still somewhat hard to start. The instructions that come with the #9 resistor(changes the way the electronic injector pump meters fuel) for the PMD says that when you change the resistor the ECM re-reads the settings every 50th start. Also is it ok to relocate the PMD between the grill and the radiater support?Thanmks in advance for any help.
