V-8 Intake Manifold

Am replacing the intake manifold gaskets on an older V-8 with carb. What is good to use on the gaskets to hold them on the heads so they don't slip? When I remove the old gaskets, which were original, there didn't appear to be any type of seal or glue on either side of the gaskets.
