Durango Need Help Starting

This sounds like something that could happen to any of us. My daughter got out of her 05 Durango and hit the lock button. Nothing happen. When she tried to start the car it started and died three times. Now nothing ,entry key still not working , batt ok but will not make a sound when turning the key . Jumper cables did nothing. Any ideas?
