"Christians killed the indians"

My first foray into the political forumn!
Anyway, the title of this thread says it all. I am an overweight middle aged white man with a staunch Catholic family. Thier ridiculous blind loyalty to the Pope saddens me. They are no different than the Muslim extremists we are at war with. Indigenous peoples all over the world were slaughtered at the hands of greedy "Christians". Thier Atrocities justified to themselves by calling the victims savages.
It is the leaders in the world taking us all down the wrong path. Most people are followers not leaders. I am torn over the war, on the one hand I am angry at innocent people being killed by terrorists, on the other hand we are in a foreign land killing real people with families. Ultimately I believe the US is doing what it needs to in order for our people to be safer. I think the problem is with the policy that made us the Muslim enemy. THE USA was built onthe principal of religious freedom. Yet because our leaders push thier own religious agenda none of us are free from it. Much of the killing in the world is done in the name of religion. I am not condeming religious people as I blame the leaders of the various religions not the followers. My message. Stand up for what YOU believe, not what someone else wants you to believe, not for something you read in the paper or your neighbor told you.

PS. I salute the men and women of the military for defending us even when the "politics" behind them are wrong. There is no right answer here!
