was "LAX" anywhere near reality?

i watched that new show with heather, blair and their supporting cast last night (monday). it was the second or third episode.

for those of you that saw it, that have knowledge of aircraft, flying, regulations and so forth, was it anywhere near reality???

first off, isn't a navigator required on commercial flights? there were only 2 in the cockpit.
second, with all the "failure" scenario training that pilots go through, would the captain really be that unsure of themself?

and how about that DC3 jumping up in front of the commercial craft. how crazy is that??

please let me know what those of you with experience in this area think.

yes, i know its not good to try and equate reality with TV shows, but i am more interested in what would really happen in a "cascading" failure scenario as occured on that craft.

and yes, i really only watched it because heather is in the show.

jim

on edit: oops, wrong forum. there isn't any way we can put a political slant on this is there?
