''W'' missed a slam dunk

When asked about the Assualt Weapons Ban, the president sure coulda done better. Here's how I would have answered it.
'' When you said I did not do as promised, you are wrong. I simply stated that if both houses of congress decided not to let the sunset provision of this ban expire,I would go along with it and sign the legislation. This legislation had a sunset provision in it for a reason and that was to see if it was effective to its purpose. Almost everyone agrees that it was not. Many have commented that it was just feel good legislation that was designed to make Americans think that we were taking ''machine guns'',as my opponent called them, when they were simply 'ugly' guns off the street.
Now please let me comment on my opponent's record and this legislation. From what he has said on the entire gun issue, I have no doubt that he believes that this legislation could be used as a gateway to the elimination of many classes of firearms, including the one he recieved as a gift during this caimpaign. While the NRA may not be happy that I consented to sign the ban. I assure you that Senator Kerry has the highest ratings from those anti-second ammendment organizations who believe that firearms should only be owned by State Militias and the regular armed forces and other government agencies. When my opponent dresses in hunting clothes.I do not think he will fool anyone into believing that he will protect your individual second ammendment rights''
Let's pray that he does not--[me]
