New death benefits

Has anyone heard anything on the new proposal to raise death benefits for active military? Heard today it was supposed to go from 12,000.00, to 250,000.00. Is this a little high, considering the debt this country is already in? Nobody deserves it more, but really, I am paying a pretty big premium for that amount of life insurance.

Oh, I also heard it was going to be retroactive from 01...
