Jr. Kennedy speaks at Wittenberg
My daughter attended a speech by environmental lawyer RFK's son. I told her to really think critically about what he said ,and try to give me an honest appraisal of the guy. Well,it seems as if Mr. Kennedy spent a lot of time explaining how his detractors are not playing fair, they got all the airtime, and that the windmill farm near the family mansion was not a good idea. This was all part of the speech ,and not based on hard q & a from the audience.[possibly it was designed to limit these questions before they were asked] Her observations were as follows. 1.'' Kennedy believes Big Business is just waiting for us to elect more Republicians so they can trash the planet even more'' 2. Kennedy believes he is non-partisan. 3. He believes that the red states are not as moral as the blue states. He cited Mississippi as an example of a red state with bad morals. He mused that if they were more moral than, say his home state, __''then why do they have a higher rate of abortions?'' The crowd cheered for that one. Everyone also enjoyed post-speech refreshments from the clear plastic throw-away cups made from OIL,or some other precious commodity from the Earth.
Because abortion is a pretty big issue of discussion in her group of buddies,Katie asked them how they felt that Kennedy used it as an example of immorality. She asked them if they were ready to change their views, since the audience seemed really supportive of the immorality aspect of abortion.
An uncomfortable silence followed.
I wish that she would have asked that question of the man himself
