Bush in Greeley Colorado
So president Bush will be visiting Greeley, Colorado this weekend. Air Force One will land at DIA / KDEN. Marine One and accompanying Black Hawks will land at Greeley Weld / KGXY. For the last 3 days black helicopters have been flying in and out of GXY warning airport staff and pilots that all airspace will be closed this weekend. No, Greeley has not been hit by any sort of storm. No, Greeley has not combusted due to an excess of flammable gasses in the air (wouldn’t be surprised if it did though).
So what is the justification for the president to take off work? What is important enough to set aside a war, a slumping economy, ETC, ETC, ETC, and take a vacation. He is coming all the way to Greeley, Colorado to campaign for Marilyn Musgrave. He is gong take a few days off the most important job in the world to boost support for Ms. Musgrave and the Republican Party in Greeley Colorado.
I personally feel that the president has no business coming to Colorado on these circumstances. Since when is it the president’s job to run around at election time giving speeches to try and get people elected? Since when is it ok to spend millions of dollars of taxpayer money to fly half way across the country to boost support for one's personal party's agenda? Since when did we start paying the presidents 200K+ a year to tell us what he thinks about the people running for election in our own state? We won't let our military people come home from war to see their baby being born. Yet their Commander and Chief can take off at any time to push personal opinion. Lead by example, George. In case he has forgotten George Bushe's title is President of the United States of America. Not president of Republican Party. Not president of Marilyn Musgrave for Congress. I repeat George Bush is the President of the United States of America. A person I have entrusted to represent my country. A person I expect to do their job with out bias. A person that will lead with the good of the nation in mind at all times. A person that I can be proud of, and trust. I think that this weekend’s visit by the president is just one more example of low down the politics are which I have experienced this election. Between the scandals, lying and mud slinging I have less faith and enthusiasm in my political system than ever. I was hopping that at least one person in the entire political system could just do their job without first surveying personal gain. I guess I was wrong.
Any opinion, thoughts, comments?
