SAVVY NATION: aka THE SAVAGE NATION

American Chronicle: SAVVY NATION: aka THE SAVAGE NATION

Bring it on Savage!!!

Barbara Anderson
August 16, 2007

If you listen to Michael Savage on his The Savage Nation radio program, you will not only become educated, you will become savvy. Savage takes the happenings of the day and brings a perspective to them you will not find elsewhere.

There is only one Savage. His background has equipped him with what has become a unique attribute: street smarts. We have become so accustomed to hearing watered down opinions, when Savage speaks it is almost foreign to us. Dr. Savage is now embroiled in an action that will let us know if We the People still have any free speech left at all.

The leftist long knives are out for Savage. He has marshaled lots of people against one of their long cherished dreams: wide open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens. Contrary to what many people believe, this movement has been around for many years. Who are the people behind this movement? Is it communist at its roots? We have been cautioned not to label people or movements as communist because communism died, didn’t it? No, communists realized they could not compete with this country militarily or economically, so let go of some of the countries under their control. We do not know if that is so, strictly speaking, because we are not allowed access into that closed system. So, who is behind the protests, the marches?

It is enlightening to examine one protest called the “Freedom Ride”. There have been more than one, but this one happened September 20-October 4, 2003. The official name was “Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride”. These so-called freedom riders started from different places in the country and ended up in New York at a rally October 4. Who were these people and how did they get the money to do this? There were probably taxpayer funds used, although it would be difficult to prove, because the tentacles of these groups are so widespread and entangled. Nonetheless, they did have sponsors, who we could presume gave money along with the prestige of their names.

The sponsors ran the gamut of unions to movie stars. There were many in government positions such as senators, congress people, country supervisors, etc. There were churches, associations, immigrant associations, civil rights groups, business and education groups. If there was a common thread it was that these people all felt disaffected with the government and they became activists to change it.

Michael Savage will recognize some of the sponsors of this “freedom” ride. They are still around. They are Tom Ammiano, Chris Daly, Aaron Peskin and Jake McGoldrick, of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, the same board that tried to condemn Dr. Savage for “hate speech“. It was thwarted by the lone vote of Ed Jew, who said he might not agree with what Dr. Savage said, but he had a right to say it.

Some other luminaries on the sponsorship list of this ride were Noam Chomsky, Robert Greenwald, Producer; Tom Hayden, Casey Kasem, Lisa and Chris Kristofferson, George Lopez, Susan Sarandon and Martin Sheen.

What did these riders want? According to their website http://immigrantworkersfreedomride.com/endorsement.asp:

“On the Hill, they pushed for a road to citizenship for all immigrant workers, immigrant family reunification, full civil rights for immigrants and protection of immigrants’ workplace rights”.

A look at these groups is in order. They are many, but perhaps just a mile wide and an inch thick. You can claim a group by naming yourself and supporting those with which you agree. It is possible that some may only have a few members. However, there are those with leadership in their groups and their names count.

Many elected politicians’ names appear. Some of the better known were Rep. Maxine Waters, Barbara Lee, Sen. Gil Cedillo, Lt. Governor Cruz Bustamante, Rep. Linda Sanchez, Antonio Villaraigosa, U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich, Senator Joseph Lieberman, Rep. Bennie Thompson, Rep. Charles Rangel, Rep. Maurice Hinchey, Rep. Nita Lowey, Rep. Gregory Meeks, Senator Maria Cantwell and Rep. Jim McDermott. This is not a compete list, by any means.

Political groups represented were: Socialist Party USA, Communist Party USA,

Congressional Asia Pacific American Caucus, Congressional Black Caucus and the Green Party of the US.

Under Immigrant Organizations were: Jews for Equal Rights for Immigrant Communities, Las Sin Front eras, Latinos Unidos por la Justice, and Lesbian and Gay Immigration Rights Task Force,

Civil Rights weighed in with: ACLU, Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), NAACP, National Lawyers Guild, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition, Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), and the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC).

Also sponsors of this particular ride were unions such as the AFL-CIO, California Teachers Union, National Education Organization, Service Employees International Union (SEIU), United Federation of Teachers, United Steelworkers of America, and so many more too numerous to list.

Churches were represented by Catholic dioceses across this nation, Buddhist Peace Fellowship, Central Conference of American Rabbis, Central United Methodist Church, Christian Brothers, Dar Al-Hijrah Islamic Center, Emanuel AME Church, The Episcopal Church USA, Hindu Temple Society of North America, Islamic Society of North America, Jewish Fund for Justice, Mormons for Equality and Social Justice, Progressive Jewish Alliance, Rabbis for Human Rights, Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations, United Church of Christ Justice and Witness Ministries.

Then there were the Center for Marxist Education, D.C. Anti-War Network, Democratic Socialists of America, International Socialist Organization, Lesbian and Gay Immigration Rights Task Force, S.F. Chapter, Muslim Public Affairs Council. National Council of La Raza, Puerto Rican Legal Defense and Education Fund, San Francisco Day Laborers Program, Queers for Peace and Justice, San Francisco Democratic Central Committee, Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom, Workers’ World Party and Sisters of Charity BVM.

Some of these people, no doubt, are soft hearted and only want what is good for everybody. They don’t seem to care that when you give to one person, you take it away from another most of the time. Others are intent on destroying the fabric of this country. In this array of people and groups you see the odd spectacle of the little Sisters of Charity marching alongside the Communist Party USA.

These groups, plus many more, were arrayed against the average American citizen who did not want amnesty given to those who broke into this country. There is a considerable mass of pressure here. But, then, there are the millions more of the rest of us, called to action by people like Dr. Michael Savage. I think this country has not seen yet the force of a populace awakened to the fact that their government is willing to give away the sustenance of the working and lower class to illegal aliens.

“An attack on one of us is an attack on all of us.”
