I want more info on this.....

It is my understanding that this bill will give heathcare to illegal immigrant children, raise the age of children to 25 and as long as you make under 82,000 a year you will be eligable? Is this true? I thought they are trying to help the poor?

Senate passes child healthcare bill

WASHINGTON, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- The U.S. Senate has passed a bipartisan bill providing health insurance for millions of children in low-income families.

The bill would increase spending on the popular Children's Health Insurance Program by $35 billion over the next five years.

The vote to pass it Thursday was 68-31 and the majority was more than enough to overcome the veto threatened by President George W Bush, who has criticized the bill for going "too far in federalizing health care."

If Bush vetoes the bill, the program will likely become a hot issue in 2008 campaigns for Congress and the White House, the New York Times said Friday.

Under the Senate plan, smokers would foot the bill for covering 3 million children more than the 6 million already covered.

The federal cigarette tax would jump from 39 cents to $1 a pack and the tax would reach $10 for luxury cigars with a wholesale price of $19 or more a piece, the Los Angeles Times said.
