There is so seldom any good news to share, and I'm sorry this only affects me, but BOY! did I ever get Christmas in August yesterday!!
My sister-in-law's brother-in-law (awkward statement) is scrapping an old Volvo road tractor. Saturday night I get a phone call asking if I would have time or interest in coming over and pumping out all of the diesel fuel in the tanks so he could proceed...
The fuel is only about 4 months old and my truck likes it fine. I filled my truck and every container from fuel cans to milk jugs that I could lay my hands on yesterday. I'll be going back and getting the rest this week as soon as I find more containers. About 100 gallons in all it appears.
I guess it sometimes pays to be the only shirttail relative nearby with a diesel truck and a snowplow that I use to help everyone out with. I burned way more than 100 gallons last winter plowing everyone out from all the bad storms we had; but this is still a welcome surprise.
I didn't even have to work for it since I stopped by the company shop and borrowed their transfer pump. Made short, clean work of it. I'm buying one of the aluminum 125 gallon tanks from him for $50 to make my own fuel barrel out of too. If diesel ever dips down, I'm going to stock up!
It has been many months since my fuel gauge read "FULL". Life's simple pleasures...
(Now if only I could figure a way to put that N14 Cummins and 10-speed into my K30 chevy...)
