Ethanol can kill you

I just about dropped my coffee the other day when I watched the Ohio channel on PBS. There was a discussion among citizen/ govt groups and an executive from Marathon Oil. Marathon is a Findlay Oh based oil company that owns Marathon and Speedway convinience stores.
The availability of E-85 at Marathon came up and the exec stated that Marathon had found no way to pump the stuff safely because no one has yet made a delivery pump that was up to U.L safety standards. It seems that pieces of the pump keep dissolving and cause problems. Of course, someone referenced the ability of South America to have 100% ethanol cars to which he responded "if a car burns up down there, they just leave it on the side of the road.I think a fuel caused fire in the US would have a greater concern" [meaning litigation] He also stated that some lower amount of ethanol mix [20% or so] in all fuel sold had been suggested to reduce our dependence on foreign oil . "with that you have that once you go over 10% ethanol in gasoline you have a situation of all the portable power equipment existing today having the potential for 'catastrophic failure'. Let me define catastrophic failure as the gasoline powered portable tool that you are using will catch on fire and catch you on fire as well"
Darwin awards,anyone???
I also used quotation marks to make things as much as they occurred as possible. These are not word for word as spoken
