E-Verify to Expire

Not only will Stimulus recipient contractors not be required to use the SSN-checker E-Verify, when hiring workers, but the soon-to-expire program itself was denied funding for its extension. Tuesday night, all Republicans and seven Democrats voted to extend E-Verify, set to expire in six months, and
require its use when $480B in public works projects hiring gets underway. Having previously stripped away 'Buy American', Reid and Pelosi stripped away 'Hire American' 50 - 47. La Raza and the Chamber of Commerce lobbied heavily against preference for the American worker.
