"DOOMSDAY" - then, and NOW!

WELL, yoop - this is where another "generations" issue surfaces... Folks like me, back in the 50's, would have ALSO been accused of "crying Wolf" and "Doomsday", if we had predicted that:

1. Can't walk into ANY Sears or "Monkey Wards" store, select the gun we wanted, pay for it and walk out with it without a waiting period, various background checks, certifications and similar - and...

2. Can't take it out to our vehicle, and regardless of whether it was a shotgun, rifle, or handgun, drive of with it clearly visible on the dash or hung in a rack in the rear window without risk of being pulled over and jailed for not having them disassembled, kept separate from ammunition, and stored in a secure area out of reach of driver and passengers.

3. Can't buy, and install a WIDE variety of aftermarket auto performance and appearance goodies from Pep Boys, Grand Auto and similar.

4. Can't buy MANY types and calibers of ammunition, without proof of age and other limitations, as well as required certification documents to prove you are permitted to buy and use them.

5 "Big Brother" would have cameras installed on traffic lights and street corners to monitor and identify citizens.

6. That same "Big Brother" can with little restraint, tap your phone, and track your movements using GPS devices in cell phones - and soon, from radio signals radiated from driver's licences and credit cards.

The list goes on - and I'm sure some of the older guys here can and will add more - but the point is, MANY of the above WERE predicted as coming down the pike, and being forced upon a sleeping America. And YES, THOSE folks were ALSO laughed at, and called "Doomsday and Wolf criers" by the SAME sort of folks here, in THIS forum, who haven't seen or LIVED thru it or lived long enough to remember.

And by the time these later critics have themselves lived long enough to see for themselves what has and IS happening, it will be TOO LATE for them, just as it is now for us - and for those who then feel compelled to then warn others of the encroaching dangers of an increasingly abusive government - just as WE are now - they TOO will then be laughed at as "Doomsday criers" - and for them, it will ALSO be too late!

What goes around, will MOST CERTAINLY, come around - like it or not, believe it or not!
