In dash CB mounting on my '99

Several people have asked me to put up some pics on how I mounted my CB along with the story of how I got it to work. So here it goes.

This is what it looks like with everything mounted

What I have is a Cobra CB 29LTD limited edition with the black face. Mounted directly below that is a Radio Shack 800 channel trunking scanner.

This is mounted in the dash in the panel section that has a small cubby hole on the manuals and has the drink holder on the automatics.

I bought a replacement panel for $35 and measured out what I would need space wise for a hole to fit the scanner and CB. Keep in mind there is not enough depth to mount them straight into the dash like the radio above them. They still need to be angled some. The first pic should be able to show that fairly well. I also knew I would not want to be making any cuts into the material behind the dash. my plan from the beginning was to make a mounting setup that I could pull and replace the original panel with a minimum of fuss and leave no marks behind.

This second pic shows the panel just pulled out slightly. The bottome of the panel has a tab that sits inside a small lip then you just lift the top part up against the dash and the tabs on top use two screws to hold the top in place. These are accessed by pulling of the dash trim bezel.
