brakesmart controller

I just got my brakesmart controller and was wondering about the wiring that is needed. According to the directions there is only one wire coming from the sensor and hooking up to the back of the controller. There is another wire that is larger and with larger plugs, and i was wondering if that is used too? any ideas will be greatly appreciataed. I have a 2003.5 ctd..thanks
