Amsoil air filter

Just receved my Amsoil Ail Filter (TS106). There are really no instructions to install. Looks like the metal cage goes to the bottom and the Amsoil name is on top and visable when you open the filter box. Is this correct? This is a very tight fitting filter. Does not look like any dust or dirt can get around this filter. I also removed the cowl vent going from the filter box into the fender to let in more air. Does this sound OK. Thanks for any info!
