need help with brite box

hi, guys need some help with my brite box.

olga came with a brite box from the previous owner. while changing batteries in the dark i must have destroyed the ground.

i ordered a bunch of stuff from geno's recently and asked them to include directions for a brite box. they did (big thumbs up), but in the instructions they talk about a black wire. i've got a red wire coming out of mine. are they the same thing? is it a ground wire i attach to the ground side of my battery?

any help is appreciated.

p.s. it is a 98 24v sport.
