EZ Power Edge install

At what point can I install a Power Edge? Should I wait until a new truck has a certain amount of miles on it first or install it any time? What can I expect for milage loss? I plan on leaving the tranny stock but will turn up the line pressure when I change the fluid and filter, in about a year. Haven't installed gauges yet, but will within the next few months. I will only be towing 6K on a flatbed about twice a month until spring, 300 mile round trip. Would you put gauges on for this small load or can I wait until Spring when I start pulling the camper, which only weighs 8K.
