Factory CD Player

I've been having problems with my CD player and was wondering if anyone else has had the same trouble. It doesn't seem to want to play any of the CD's I've burned on my computer and sometimes won't play CD's I've bought. All these CD's will play on my home units so I know they're good. Also, I'm looking to upgrade my sound system and was wondering if anyone has done anything to upgrade their system using the factory unit? I'd like to get new speakers and a sub, but don't know if it's possible with the factory unit. It's not that I'm cheap, I just don't know of anything that will fit the dash as well as what's in it!
