2001 Factory Fogs in 98.5

Okay I know someone out there has tried this. My Dad wants to put the 2001 factory fog lights with clear lenses on his 98.5 that has what I would now describe as brown lenses. Will it work?? or is there a better / different fog light that will fit in the factory 98 spot that does not cost hundreds of $$
