EZ installation..what about shift kit?

I tow a heavy 5th with my 99 2500 and am intrigued by the prospect of adding an "EZ"...But when I quizzed the EZ vendor, I was advised that the downside to the EZ is that I may have to install a "Shift Kit" down the road....Installation of shift kit sounds scarry..How necessary is it? What is effect of shift kit?
