Delay on E-Brake engagement

I just traded trucks & I am going to put an exhaust brake on. I talked to Pac-Brake & they told me on the brake that hooks up thru the ECM there was about a 3 second delay in the engagement of the brake. Is any one using this set-up? Does the Cummins brake also have this delay also? If they both delay, I think I'll go with the old style Pac-Brake with the accelerator switch. Thanks for your advice
