P/Oed-muffler runaround

just went to a muffler shop in my town of scarborough here and got an jerk who was condescending. i asked if he had any flow through mufflers and he kept saying "no,no, no. go get one of those junks go to napa or somewhere. i won't do it unless it's done right". what's done right?!?! i told himi that my dad would fab it up, but, GRR

?The way he acted--well, that's not how you do business I've got a cat that's most likely pretty plugged right now. the guy at Midas was going to sell me one of the raven mufflers for $130

He also gave me the runaround "taking off the cat is illegal". should i get a resonator from a 24v? when i had my straight pipe it was nice to have such a quick spool up! should i punch out the cat? do i push the screen from the 3inch side out the 4 inch side
