Goerend Bros. 3-D TC

Spent the 14th at Dave Goerend's shop in St. Lucas, Ia. At 165k, my stock TC had taken a beating, & was slipping & shuddering a bit trying to absorb the HP & torque of a turned up Cummins. So, I made an appointment, and decided on a billet cover, low stall, tripple. I got there at 8am, & within an hour, the tranny was on the bench, cleaned up & being torn down. While it was being examined & worn parts replaced, Dave personally spent several hours personally building my TC. I was able to be there for every step, and Dave explained everything he was doing, & why, in all the detail I could handle. He had a supply of stators he'd already milled, but he put his finishing touches on mine with a file & pick. When it was all welded up, it was a beautiful thing to look at with that big thick, polished, solid steel cover. The tranny was ready in the afternoon, and it needed a few replacement parts. The O.D. sun gear & ring had pitting & worn, so they were replaced, The center gear of the oil pump had worn into the housing, so gear & housing were replaced. Dave recommended replacing the 2nd gear strut lever, so we did that too. He said he's seen a few break, and I noticed several broken ones laying around the shop. All my forward Drive clutches & disc's were worn out, so a new set was installed. The O.D. clutch pack was almost like new, so were the 2nd gear & reverse bands. After all new seals & gaskets were installed, the tranny was buttoned up, and ready to put back in the truck. Dave tore the valve body apart, inspected everything, made a small modification to provide more oiling, and put it back together with a new filter. After we got it down off the rack, we took it for a spin. I like the way it feels with the lower stall speed, and it does most of it's work now below 2,000 RPM now instead of 2500+. When it's locked up, I cannot make it slip, even with stock line pressures. I had a ball spending the day there, I had the run of the shop, and was able to watch every step. No "waiting room" here, you can be as involved as you want to be. Nice people, good product, & a real value compared to some of the others. I think I'm gonna love it!
