New South Bend Clutch HOLDS!!
Well guys I have 15k on my new improved South Bend Clutch and let me tell you it is working fine! I called Peter from South Bend one week before Truckfest and gave him the news that my old CON OFE was slipping. I explained that I was well over its rated limit and that I needed more holding force with the ability to still SLAM the gears off drag racing. Peter called me back and had all the details worked out. It seemed That Mark Kendrick had been testing a six speed versions of what I needed. So with no time to waste Peter drilled a 5 speed flywheel to accept a 13" clutch fabricated a full feramic disk and put a weighted pressure plate behind it. It took some getting use to. My first launch attempt from 2500 revs brought my truck back to idle! But this was good news it meant that I could launch even harder. The long and the short of it. Well over 500 hp, clutch has never slipped, have over 50 four wheel drive launches on it, (several hundred more in two wheel drive), Have towed other trucks cross country with it for over 3500 miles and now I'm sled pulling with it. Not an easy 15k miles. As for the holding force and shifting quality. 1.8 second 60 foots, tires spin when shifting on the strip in 4wd, and running 13.5's in the Quarter Mile. Thanks Peter for an awesome clutch that works well to compete and is very drivable on the street.
