Hot Rod VP-44

Good morning guys,
I need some info on the Hot-Rod VP-44, I need a new pump soon I get the 216 Code & no throtle response when it happens several times a day. So I am considering the Hot Rod version of the VP, Is it worth the extra money and will it preform well on a Tow Vehicle. I'm told that the pump is worth about 80 extra Horses.
