"Friction Fit" exhaust tip?

Just got my MagnaFlow 4" SS system installed! A few minor problems but overall happy with the results. Anyway, the system came with a nice 5" polished, rolled tip that is supposed to slip onto the tail pipe. Well it is not "slipping" more than 1 inch or so and I hesitate to just hammer it into place, but this may be the way to go. Any input on getting these tips on without damage? Thanks Jim G
