Bought a Banks Quick Spool 14cm tonight, did I waste my money?

My local diesel performance guy has been telling me to get it for a while, so I finally got it tonight. Now I'm having buyers remorse.

I mentioned to him that I get quite a bit of smoke when I shift when the Comp is on 5x5, with Mach 2's and a stock HX35/12cm.

I know that I could simply turn the box down, but it makes it no fun to drive it that way.

I just want the same power with less smoke and a bit quicker spool up. Am I headed in the right direction or am I just throwing money away.

The reason I'm kinda skeptical is because he also tried to sell me the Banks High Ram. I honestly can't see what that thing does performance-wise. Same size inlet and outlet as stock but with a big beer belly in the middle.

I'm not sold on that which got me wondering about my purchase of the Quick Spool.
