Starter Solonoid replacement

At 115,000 miles my starter clicked once, at 116,000 miles it clicked again. I said to myself that I need to get a kit and fix it. At 117,000 miles it clicked 3 times. Time for action! I had seen the article in issue 49 about Larry Buck's contact kit. Since I live in Olympia and his shop is in Tacoma, WA I made the 30 minute trip and purchased his kit for$34.95. As I was leaving his shop my starter clicked 4 times. The replacement went very well and his instruction sheet was right on. Comparing the new contacts with the old indicated a huge gain in contact surface. The starter now works great.
This is the first repair that my 97 SLT, auto, 4x4 ext cab has required. Still the original brakes and I do a fair amount of towing. A wonderful truck. Just wanted to pass along this info. I wouldn't advise going past the first click however.
