New exhaust and high intake air system??

Just got a "05 2500 Quad Cab, Long Bed Cummins and love it! My dad said that a new exhaust and high intake air system would really open it up and let her breathe. Question: Will I have adjust any other part of the fuel system or make any other changes besides just installation? Also will I get better mileage?
