EGT probe mounting, which size

My new Isspro EGT gauge sensor came with a 1/4 inch HD steel mounting adaptor.........the vendor included a 1/8 adaptor, however it is just a simple brass compression fitting like you would hook up your ice-maker in your fridge with.....
I would like to just drill and tap 1/8, but this "dinky" brass piece bothers me a bunch........will in handle 1300 degrees?
What did you guys use?
