Transfer case Fluid change
I changed the fluid in the transfer case yesterday. It was easier than expected. I have the 241HD with the PTO cover. The specs say 9.5 pints with PTO or 6.5. Without a PTO connected the correct amount is 6.5 pints. I have 50,000 on the truck and the fluid that drained looked as good as the new stuff. I used Mopar ATF +4. Cost from the dealer was $29/gallon including tax....about $7.50 if you buy it by the guart. The drain and fill fittings are 10mm hex "Allen" wrench. I used a hand operated transfer pump to fill the case. Also put some anti-sieze on the threads when you put the plug fittings back in.
