Question for Jelag

You install a low amperage circuit breaker in the fuse panel so that it pops on/off and run the clamp of the induction amp meter over the wiring loom... as soon as you pass either the short or ground the induction amp meter will no longer measure load and you have trapped the problem within a 6" section of wiring loom.....
Jelag,
You wrote this as a reply to a popping fuse problem in the 6.7l forum.

I consider myself a good electrical trouble shooter and have a good knowledge of test equipment. I understand how an induction amp meter works but I have a question about your technique.

In this problem a fuse was blowing for the VGT, the dealer ran a new wire from the fuse box to the VGT to repair the problem. You said to put a lower rated fuse in to trouble shoot the problem harness. Won't that blow even easier than the original? Once the fuse is blown there is no current flow for the meter to use. You can't use a larger fuse because of the risk of letting the magic smoke out.
What do you mean it pops on/off?
I started this thread so I didn't hijakc the original posters thread.
Appreciate the education.
