Repairing firewall insulation?

I think I've gotten rid of the mice, but not the damage they did to my insulation!

Has anyone found a durable way to patch the damaged cloth? It's right over my rear valve covers, so every time I take it apart for valve adjustments (or head gasket...

) it falls apart, hangs down, etc.
Duct tape is not a good solution and I am not ready to pony up for a whole new piece...

Related to that is where to find maleable heat shielding (not pre-formed pieces or tape) for various uses including maybe the above. Anyone?
