B&W Companion Hitch Issue

I purchased B&W Turnover Ball w/Companion 5th Wheel Hitch back in Dec. 2003.

I take the hitch out when not using the camper and have a problem. I have used the hitch 6 times since December.

The 1/2" bolt that connects the 2-1/2" hitch post to the base of the Companion hitch somehow has become cross threaded. I cannot budge this bolt with my Torque Wrench.

I have always followed the same procedure installing and removing the hitch.

1. Unlatch and remove GN ball

2. Lower Companion Hitch post into hole

3. Latch hitch post

4. Torque the 1/2" x 3" top bolt to 40 Ft. Lbs.

5. Tighten the 2 U-bolts

Removing is reverse.

B&W's solution - purchase a new hitch post for $50. Not a warranty item.
