Busy Three Days
Wednesday afternoon we took delivery of our new/used 2002 Dually. Yesterday we picked up our '05 32' Toyhauler. Drove it home through 75 miles of Los Angeles traffic at 5:30 in the afternoon....whew! First timer for a rig like this and boy it was an adventure. The trip was uneventful until I was maneuvering it in a dark area and clipped a fence, digging a horizontal slot almost the full length of the fiberglass entry door. I was heartbroken, but my sweet wife said no big deal, it's now christened. She already found a biz that specializes in that type of work and plans to give them a call on Tuesday. Oh well...................got that out of the way first thing.
The truck had a gooseneck installed in it by the previous owner so we installed the neck on the trailer and pronounced it good. It towed well and I am so impressed by this truck I can't express it. Totally stock and does a fine job. I may do a little bombing down the road after I install the usual warning devices everyone recommends to install on the pillar. Maybe a FASS system and and Edge EZ after that.
Anyone have any favorites for toolbox/fueltank combos for the bed? I don't think I want to go over 30 gallons just to keep the weight down to a minimum, but I like the idea of that extra range. Shock recommendations? I hear some members say Bilstein. What price range are they in?
All in all it has been a whirlwind three days, but what an adventure. That sound and feel the the CTD is very addictive, and I now understand on a personal level why this site exists and why there are so many loyal members and owners. Happy to be here, I am. This has been a dream for many years and it is now just beginning. Thanks to all who have answered my rookie questions on this site in all of the forums.
