Changing brake controllers - difficult?
I have a brake controller that was installed when I bought my 5th wheel (time delay type). I don't like the way it hesitates when I apply the truck brake before it applies the trailer brakes. Then it only brakes harder the longer you hold the truck brakes down. Not good during an emergency.
So, I bought a Prodigy. Can anyone tell me how difficult it is to change out the controllers? Very electrically challenged - but I can cut and splice. Is this all there is to it? Would it be better to change out the harness? I don't have much time, so I don't want to "mail order" a new harness.
Aren't there just 4 wires? Can I just match the wire colors and connect them?
Also, for a 13k# trailer, what initial setting would you recommend?
Thanks in advance.
