Blown trailer brake fuse

I recently came back from a 2000 mile tow with no brake problems. The trailer is a new 2006, purchased in January. I parked at my house and moved it a couple of times because of constructing a new trailer parking pad. This past weekend I was driving my truck, not towing, and I noticed there was no display on my Brakesmart. Maybe it happened last time I moved the trailer or maybe not, I never noticed. I used the troubleshooting guide in the Brakesmart book and there was no 12 volts at the control unit. I opened the truck fuse box and the 30 amp trailer brake fuse was blown.

I've looked at all the trailer wiring, no damage. Brakes all work fine if I pull the break away switch. I'll replace the fuse and I bet everything works fine.

What concerns me is what would blow the fuse? No indications of a problem on the Brakesmart display. It's supposed to detect problems with the brake wiring. It would have to be a short to ground to take out the fuse.

Any other ideas or experience blowing the 30 amp trailer brake fuse with a Brakesmart controller? The 15 amp fuse in the Brakesmart did not blow.
