brake controller not working ?

I had a problem with the magnet on one of my trailer brakes. Because I didnt have time to order the part, I just had the guy remove the magnet so the wheel would free wheel (I still have brakes on the other 3 wheels. Well, when I hooked the TT up to my truck, now the light on the brake controller doesnt come on. All of the trailer lites work. At first, only the left trailer and truck brake would work. Even when I disconnected the trailer cable, only one lite worked on the truck. But, I turned on the key, and now both lites work on the truck, key or no key. I hooked the trailer back up, and both brake lites now work. But still no lite on the brake controller.

Any ideas ?
