Cool GREAT STORY

Get a load of this one. I agreed to purchase a new S and S 11DB slide-in-camper from a place called Peak RV in Orwigsburg PA. I was suppose to take delivery on Feb. 16. Well that day came and went. The owner of the place called me and asked me for 4200. more for a total deposit of 5200. on a 25,000 unit. NO problem right? Well a on Feb 22 he filed chapter 7. There is alot more that led up to that but I will leave for some other time. Anyway I've got very little chance of getting my money back. I talked to a bankruptcy lawyer, the court appointed trustee, and I have very little chance of getting anything back. I am trying to have the prosecutor in his area file charges against the owner for theft by deception or fraud. I was told that both of his companies filed. He was also the mayor of the town maybe.

Anyway, The manf. S&S contacted me and said that they would make good on the deal. WOW!! I have a chance to salvage my 5200. Only one catch. I have to take delivery @ the factory. No problem right. Well they are in Montana and I live in New Jersey. Do I smell a road trip? Well thats what's goin on. I have to take a roadtrip to pick it up. Got a friend who I was just out in Jackson Hole with who said he would go. I think we are going to plan pick up for the week of May Madness. Since We are out there why not drive down to Vegas and see what May Madness is all about. Right now its the plan. I just ordered a whole bunch of stuff to outfit the 3500 better for the camper and the trip. Ordered a new south bend clutch, new factory mirrors, a BD muffler to quiet the straight pipe on this long trip, some new Firestone Airbags, and a few other things as well. I get to get all this stuff installed soon.

Here's another twist to the story. I was trying to locate some financing. I was already approved thru Peak back in January. I spent 2 days on the web and got approved by one of the big RV financing companies. However I was not happy with thier terms and rates. So I kept looking and got nowhere. One guy I spoke with did financing for dealers only. He gave me a name of a place in NJ. That was it. Just a name. No number, no town where they were. nothing. I ended up getting in touch with them. I told them the dilema I was in and the guy said he could help me. He also just happens to be only 15 minutes from me. He asked who Peak had me approved thru. I said I never knew. He asked me my name and said to hold on. He got back on the phone and said that he had good news. You know where this is goin? He said I was approved thru him. He had all my paperwork and everything. He was not aware of what had taken place at Peak. So we laughed about the whole thing. He called the bank and they said everything would still be a go. Wacky huh?

So thats my story of how I may have just purchased my first RV. I will believe it when I drive out of the place with in my rearview mirror.

Well I hope you all enjoyed that happy ending. I know I feel much better. I also heard the owner had his house mortgaged thru the bussiness as well. I hope he is living full time in a old trailer park.

OH by the way. I did not tell you about the guy who payed full price for his new Camper. He never picked it up. So right know he is out 18,000. The unit may be auctioned off april 13. I feel pretty lucky.

So if any of you happen to see a big red 3500 with an S&S Camper in the bed at May Madness please feel free to stop by and say hello. I look forward to meeting many new friends.
