Thumbs up PROBLEM SOLVED---Turn Signals, Brake Lites and Trailer Brakes Failed

Well I finally crawled under the truck and found the following conditions, as received from the Trailer Dealership's installation crew. I still intend to do a more extensive test this weekend, it's raining.

Modifications made:

1. The wire harness, from the newly installed trailer receptacle amidships, that had arched downwards to the main truck harness was shortened and now has two inches of clearance from the truck bed. Originally it was installed and was rubbing and rubbed enough to remove the paint from the truck bed and showed signs of a light gray ash. Possible and "most likely" area of failure.

2. The newly installed receptacle splice location on the truck's main wiring harness, blue wire, was rewired and no longer shows any gnawed [3] marks on main harness that also had showed bare wire through wire casing. A high indication that a least four attempts were made to splice this wire and on the fourth try,.. it worked. Another possible area of failure.

I would like to thak all that replied to this issue and highly urged that replacing a 20 amp fuse with a 40 amp is a dangerous action. Thanks again for keeping my feet on the ground. Oh by the way, the light blue 20a buss fuse is a difficult part to find. I went to 5-6 auto part stores without luck. Plenty of 30a and 40a fuses, but had to order the 20a. I now have four spares. Get some spares is my warning.

Napa Auto Part #782-2120, Description JCASE FUSE, $4.99 each.

My next thread will be about trailer security. While I was working on my truck, someone broke into my 5er while it was in storage.
