Where to place the 5ver hookup???

What is a good type of "hitch" for a 5ver so that I can still use the bed without much effort?
I have heard that there are problems with the height of the the 2500 4x4 when it comes to hookups. How do you get around this problem. I want to do some parttime hauling so I will be pulling a variety of 5ths. Comments. Suggestions?
I have a complete set of gauges on the way.
