Power wire in trailer plug?
I haven't checked yet (been too cold ), but the trailer wiring on that comes with the tow package, already has the "power" wire hooked up, right?
I have an enclosed trailer that I added a living quarters too. I added a deep cycle battery to the trailer so that when it wasn't hooked up to the truck I would have power for my lights and small converter. However, when I it is hooked up I am assuming the truck should be charging that battery. It was on my old one, but I wired it myself. I just matched the plug to the factory wiring diagram.
The wiring on the trailer and truck are stock. The truck is an 04.
I do realize that if I leave the truck hooked up, that there is some drain from the truck batteries, unless I unplug the trailer. They are never connected for more than about 2 days without being started. So, so far there hasn't been any issues. I also, charge the trailer battery before every trip, so that it starts fully charged.
Thoughts?
Dave
