Vacuum pump,Power Steering Pump Oil leak.

Ive read alot of the old Posts about this problem.Has anyone had this problem recently and what was your experience.My truck is a 2001 4x4 3500 with only 35000 miles.The one dealer Ive talked to said they had recently repaired two trucks at about $1200 each.If they wont cover it under warranty
Ill be doing the $20,replace the O ring myself repair.
Your thoughts would be helpful.Thank You.
