NV4500 shifter problems

Ok so I was all happy that I got my new tranny and I go and find out that it has the wrong shifter attachment and now my truck is sitting in parts.

I don't want to put it all back together and try to send it back to get the right one and I don't want to use used parts from the old tranny. My thought was it would probably be easiest just to get a new shift handle from a truck that had the attachment type. (98 and up I believe, mine is a 97) That way I could put it all back together with the right stuff and put on a different shifter when I found one.

I have a couple questions. One does anyone have different advise or knowledge that would suggest maybe I shouldn't go that way. Or just advice in general. Anyone know where i might be able to find one? I live in Denver and have checked the local yards and haven't found one so far. I need my truck back up and running asap.

What to do?!?!?
