cant re install valve body!!! 00 47re

i just installed a transgo shift kit without any problems but trying to get the valve body back in it seems like the rod on top of the valve body wont go back far enough! i guess there is a springloaded park mechanism that i am pretty sure the rod goes past, but it wont go, the valve body almost lines up but needs to go back farther into the tranny. any advice is appreciated!
